Consumer Friend - Who are we?
This is our first blog post. We wanted to write to introduce ourselves. We are Consumer Friend, well really, we are Adam and Lou. Two people who really want to make a difference in lots of ways but also have a lot of fun doing it. We have day jobs and have years of experience in consumer law and consumer related work, with a real passion for supporting people who might need a bit more help in getting the best deal for them. This is a side hustle for now. A really fun side hustle.
We launched the FREE to access Consumer Friend website, socials and podcast last June. Trustmark quickly joined us as partners as we have a shared aim In making life a bit easier for all consumers when making difficult choices. The website was launched with the hope that we would help make it easier for people to understand, how to buy goods or services safely or if something did go wrong what can be done about it.
Consumer Friend is about making consumer rights easy and quick to read, if you like reading! Or if you like listening and mildly entertaining podcasts (it’s really listening to us take the mickey out of each other with a few key facts intertwined that we hope will help someone.) Or if You like videos you can watch or engage with our socials.
Underpinning everything we do, is our passion for supporting consumer vulnerability. Basically, what this means is working with business and organisations to ensure whatever they are doing is accessible for all consumers and that businesses and organisations understand a bit more about why consumers might not be getting the best deals for themselves and how we are all affected by different things in different ways. So many things can affect our abilities to make good decisions for ourselves.
If we could summarise it in one word, it’s empathy. Empathy from a business to its customer or organisation to its consumer.
